BENJAMIN ASBELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Two scholarship awards of $1,000 each. One of the awards is restricted to a day or evening student
at the Rutgers-Camden School of Law who is a resident of South Jersey and is not a first year student.
Applicants must also demonstrate genuine financial need, scholastic ability, and a history or desire
to work in the areas of law enforcement and/or the administration of justice.
The second of the awards will be given to a student at any of the following law schools:
Rutgers-Camden, Rutgers-Newark, Penn, Seton Hall, Temple, Villanova, or Widener.
EIVIND H. BARTH, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a law student attending either the Rutgers-Camden School of
Law or the Temple Law School. Applicants should show a bona fide intention to practice law in Camden
County and also demonstrate genuine financial need as well as scholastic achievement.
HON. JOSEPH W. COWGILL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a Rutgers-Camden School of Law student who is in the upper
half of his or her class. Applicants must demonstrate genuine financial need as well as be a
resident of Camden County.
HON. RALPH W.E. DONGES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a part-time, evening law student attending: Rutgers-Camden,
Rutgers-Newark, Penn, Seton Hall, Temple, Villanova, or Widener. Applicants must show a bona fide
intention to practice law in Camden County. Applicants should also demonstrate genuine financial
need as well as scholastic achievement.
DuBOIS BROTHERS SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a student of any Delaware Valley law school. Applicants must
show a bona fide intention to practice law in South Jersey as well as exhibit professionalism and
high character in their personal and academic lives. Applicants must also demonstrate genuine
financial need.
GEORGE F. KUGLER, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a second or third-year student attending any New Jersey law
school. Applicants must demonstrate genuine financial need as well as a history of and/or desire to
work in public service law.
HAROLD AND HARRIET PLUM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a student of any accredited law school. Applicants must
demonstrate scholastic achievement as well as genuine financial need.
LOUIS C. PORTELLA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a second or third year full-time student at either
Rutgers-Camden or Temple law schools who resides in and intends to practice law in Camden County,
who is in good academic standing, and is active in both extracurricular and community activities.
This scholarship is not necessarily based on financial need, but special circumstances will be
considered.
HON. RUDOLPH J. ROSSETTI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a student attending any Delaware Valley law school.
Applicants must demonstrate scholastic achievement and a genuine financial need.
DANIEL B. TOLL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a law student who is not in his or her final year of study.
Applicants must be a resident of South Jersey, preferably Camden County, and have demonstrated a
commitment to the area in charitable, humanitarian, and community service activities.
WILLIAM TOMAR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an incoming, full or part-time law student at Rutgers
School of Law – Camden. Applicants should demonstrate genuine financial need and scholastic
achievement from previous educational experiences. An official acceptance letter from Rutgers
must be submitted with the application form.
BRUCE A. WALLACE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 to be given to a third-year student at Rutgers-Camden School of Law who is
from the South Jersey area and is in the upper half of his or her class. Applicants must also
demonstrate genuine financial need.
Applications will be accepted September 1, – January 31.
Scholarship Recipients will be announced in April.

JAY A. STRASSBERG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Information and Application Procedure
The Jay A. Strassberg Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually by the Camden County Bar Foundation
to any Temple, Drexel or Rutgers University Law Student or undergraduate student majoring in the
Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising Department of the School of Communications and
Theater Arts who demonstrates both financial need and academic achievement. Preference will be
given to candidates from Camden County or the South Jersey area.
The Scholarship honors Jay A. Strassberg, a 1961 Communications graduate of Temple University who
served as the Executive Director of the Camden County Bar Association from 1974 to 1998. In
addition to his successful career with the Camden County Bar, Mr. Strassberg also worked for Temple
University in its public relations department, as a news reporter for KYW Radio, and as Executive
Director of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
An award of at least $1,000 will be given to the selected recipient. The criteria for the Jay A.
Strassberg Memorial Scholarship are as follows:
- A brief letter from the applicant detailing his or her personal and educational
background, work history (if any), course of study, and plans after graduation;
- A current transcript of undergraduate courses including grade point average;
- letter of recommendation submitted by a member of the Journalism, Public Relations, and
Advertising Department at Temple University;
- A disclosure of financial information revealing all sources of funding being received or
being offered to the applicant (include other scholarships, financial awards or other
financial assistance).
